We took our show on the road and headed East. I have quite a few pictures, so I thought I would divide them up into 'chapters'.
I was quite nervous taking the boys on their first long road trip in our new mini van. I prepared what I thought was a lot of activities, snacks and books that they could do while seated for approximately six hours with stops here and there. I was not worried about Alex. He loves books, coloring and activities that mom and dad call "fun". Aiden, on the other hand, I was worried about. The little man of mine hates the car. I don't say hate lightly either. Driving to daycare every morning starts and ends in tears if we don't have the pacifier along. Thank God my nightmares about this ride did not live to become realities. They were both troopers and handled the car ride with ease. We left the first chance we got. Aiden slept the first part of the ride and Alex slept the second part of the ride. So lucky my boys still nap.
Aiden loves his peek-a-boo, so we packed many books especially the peek-a-boo ones.
I found this idea on Pinterest. I printed off a car, Alex colored it and we hung it up on a string in the car to show our progress for the road trip. Amazingly, it worked. Alex looked forward to moving it along the string and the boredom subsided a little.
My precious babies had some good sleep on the way out. About 2 hours each. On the way back, Alex slept about 2 1/2 hours. All the way from Joel and Jenna's to just south of LaCrosse. Aiden on the other hand, slept about 4 hours. We were almost in Northfield by the time he woke up, happy. Their cousins and the trip wore these boys out.
Alex enjoyed some coloring, playing with his Tag books, reading regular ol' books, flashcards, his preschool books, games, coloring and activity sheets, playing on Mommy's IPod, and doing a road trip scavenger hunt.
This road trip made me excited for many more trips in the future.
