Oh my...I am so behind in my blogging. I do it for fun, for my family, for the memories, so what does it really matter if I am behind? My "little" guy turned four earlier this month, and well, we decided to have a party of course! We talked last summer about what kind of birthday he wanted and he settled on baseball. Although, I think he might have changed it to dinosaurs if he could have. I know it may surprise you, but I do like to plan it out and have time to prepare.
The one thing I could not have prepared for? Andy hurting his knee and having to have a major operation on his ACL and meniscus. Thank you, God, for great family! Cassie and my mom volunteered to come over and help get ready. We borrowed many things from family (popcorn machine from Gma and Gpa Guse) and some from friends (cotton candy machine from the Boots family). Because what would a baseball party be without all the necessities of the true American game.
Cassie and I talked about what time she would come. I was thinking a couple hours before the party (the party was at 3:30 pm). She said, "I'll be there by 9, no later". Oh...thank you, God!
At the "concession stand" we had peanuts in a bag, sunflower seeds, cracker jacks, Babe Ruth candy bars, fresh popcorn, cotton candy and some Big League Chew gum.
For the meal, we had nachos, vegetables, fruit, salads, beans, tacos in a bag, chips, and brats or hot dogs.
Most of the party was held in the garage. We don't have a large house, but we do have a lot of wonderful family and friends. We had 35 people attend Alex's 4th birthday. He is one loved little boy.
After the meal, some cards and a pinata; we headed inside for gift opening followed by cake and ice cream.
Everyone signed Alex's fourth birthday ball. It is now in a special case, on his new baseball shelf in his room. He will forever remember who came to his golden birthday party.
Of course Grandma Kathy made a beautiful and delicious baseball glove cake for Alex's birthday. For daycare, I made easy-peasy baseball cupcakes.
Phew...now onto the fun...
