Guse Christmas

Christmas with the Guse family was in January this year.  We headed down to Andy's parent's house on Saturday morning.  Of course we were excited to see everyone, but especially Uncle Nate and Aunty Abby who live out of state now.  We miss them!  We opened tons of gifts right away.  Alex loves his stickers and Aiden his tractors.

Lovely pictures of the sunlight to come...Cousins Joel and Alex (7 months apart) both goes Alphie robots from Grandma and Grandpa Guse.  They are robots that test their skills in language, animals, math, etc...  Alex loves his robot and hides it from Aiden all the time!

More John Deere for Aiden and an easel with lots of letters, chalk and markers.  The easel is by far one of the favorite toys around our house lately.  Who wants to play school?

The boys made ornaments for Grandma and Grandpa Guse.  We bought clear bulbs and put a picture of each of them in the bulbs.  Then, we put their handprint on the bottom.  I really liked how they turned out.  It was hard thinking of a fun, creative thing for the boys to give to their Grandparents/Special People for Christmas.

At the Canterbury Craft show last fall, I found a frame with a piece of glass that had snowmen painted on it.  I had the lady write the names of all the grandchildren, Grandma and Grandpa on each snowmen and that was our gift to Grandma this year.  Alex was super excited to give it to Grandma because snowmen are her favorite after all.

We took some family pictures on the steps again this year.  This is the whole clan minus the photographers (Grandma and Grandpa), "the boys" and Grandma & Grandpa and a picture of .

After gifts, everyone quickly got to the playing part of Christmas.  Alex wanted to play with Aaron's new MouseTrap game so badly.  He even wanted to buy it for him when we saw it in the store. We played my new game of Wits and Wagers, which was a big hit at all our Christmas celebrations this year.  And, of course, at the Guse Christmas a game or two of marbles was to be had.

Great Grandpa and Grandma Priebe came over for the afternoon meal and cards.  Aiden matched Great Grandpa with their John Deere clothing.  And, later, Grandpa and Alex matched.

We had a great day spending time with family.

Before traveling on Sunday back home, we took the opportunity to all go sledding.  Alex went down before I got there with his cousin and fell off.  Not to worry though, my little guy is tough.  He sat out for a bit, but got back on that sled.  I think he may have gotten too much snow in his face to enjoy his ride with me, so he decided to go with his Uncle Matt instead from then on.

Andy had to sit out because of his recent knee surgery and Aiden was more than willing to keep him company in the warm car.  Aiden is not too fond of the cold temperatures and wet snow.  I am working very diligently to break him of that though.  Living in MN, he will need to deal with it for at least the next 17 years.

Eventually, Aiden and Andy hopped out of the car and made some snow angels.  In all fairness, the hill was a bit steep, fast and furious for Aiden and I don't think I would have let him go down if he wanted to.

Everyone enjoyed the snow!
