Party Time!

Well, one good thing about getting the flu on the day of your son's first birthday...I was able to keep my baby a baby for one more week.  We were all feeling better, and we had an extra week to get things from our "party list" done.  Bare with me on this post, I wanted to capture every single moment of my little love's birthday!
It was finally party time.  Mr. Aiden (as Alex likes to call him) had fruit and Subway for lunch before heading down for a nap before his guests would arrive.

A Pinterest inspired idea, I made a birthday banner with pictures from each of the months of Aiden's first year of life.  I can't believe my baby is growing so fast!

We had a jungle theme, and I made a watermelon/grape bowl because those are some of Aiden's favorites.

Grandma Guse made Aiden's first cakes.  The first one was for the guests and the second was for his "Smash" cake.

Little man did so well with his "smash" cake.  He more picked off the M&Ms to eat rather than smash into the cake.

Aiden loved having everyone hold him, feed him and love him up.

The thing I am most grateful for in all of life is for the love we have around us all the time.  Our family is unique and you can't put it in a box, category or label it.  Aiden, Alex and Andy and I too, have so many people we can count on.  We are blessed.

We missed Pete.  But, we skyped him in and it was good to hear and see him.

We made a turkey, ham and a bunch of salads for dinner.

For first birthday party entertainment, we did pin the nose on the lion!  And, guess what?  Aiden won!!

He loved his birthday banner that Daddy made for him.  My man is so talented!

The best picture we could get of the four of us that day!

Aiden was a lucky man with all the presents he got.  He didn't really enjoy opening them much, but big brother was quick to help with that!

Aiden didn't have any clothes on because of his battle with the smash cake, but Grandma made him a jungle shirt for his first birthday that he looked so handsome in.

He even fit in one of the presents.

When Aiden was fast asleep inside, the older kids got to pop all the balloons.  I took a few quick pictures and got out of there fast.  It was loud!

My smart three year old had to put on his boots to pop them because, "That makes it louder, Mom!"  Oh...oh ok.

To end the night, my Aunt Darcy brought old film strips to watch in the garage.  It was so fun to see myself with my cousins, aunts, uncles and parents when we were younger.

It is a lot of fun to create memories and moments like this for my boys.  I hope they will remember it with fondness and be able to look back on pictures and laugh.

Happy first birthday, Mr. Aiden, we love you!

In the Blink of an Eye

Aiden Timothy was born ONE year ago.  We welcomed him into our family with open arms, we were ready for him.  It was a bit of an adjustment for Alex, but now he could not be more proud of his new brother.  They are best buddies as Alex tells me almost daily.  I am so happy they will have each other for life.  There is nothing more important than family.
This past year has gone so fast!  That is why my monthly photos with cute signs, shirts or whatever other fun things you can do to show your baby's age...didn't happen.  Instead, I tried to take an individual picture of Aiden on the 11th of every month, give or take a few days.
GIve a lady a break!
We were lucky enough to have Nicole LaCoste (http://nicolelacostephotography.com) take Aiden's newborn, 3 mo, 6 mo, 9 mo and 1 year pictures.  She did an amazing job and love all the pictures she took! When Aiden was 2 mo. we went to the Baby Fair in NP and they had someone taking photos as well.

Welcome to the world, Aiden!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We get so busy during the months of December and early January, then there is nothing.  Which I do enjoy to some extent after running everywhere.  But, toddlers and babes don't just like to relax!  So, we start planning for Valentine's Day.

We found a new recipe for Valentine's rice krispies, which were pretty good and pretty easy to make.  Alex enjoyed making this goodie.

Decorated sugar cookies are the most fun to make because you can personalize them to your own liking.  As displayed below, Alex had no problem with that.  The sugar comes so fast out of those bottles and I didn't want to be over bearing about using too much.  The end product looked lovely.

Of course we need to try what we make, right?

Luckily, Alex allowed Andy and I to bring these to our jobs.  Or, we may have been a little love sick.

I am loving the pinterest website, with all the new ideas for anything you could possibly want to do or have.  These cards were pinterest inspired.  Alex is on the left, Aiden the right and mommy behind.  I know they are not perfect, but it is the thought that counts and daddy's desk at work will definitely be full now.

Both of the boys' Valentine's for daycare this year were pinterest inspired also.  I loved the label idea for the pop rocks that a friend, Tiffany, suggested.  It made it so easy for Alex to help!

Sometimes I feel like I should agree with everyone when they talk about how Valentine's Day is such a Hallmark holiday and it was just planned so stores could create more revenue.

But, then I stop and thank God for all my blessings and loves.  My life would be so empty without the people I love and I think we should set aside a day to remind people of how we feel about them.  It is never a bad idea to stop and smell the roses.

Happy Valentine's Day!
