We decided to host a game night with some new friends. We made these friends through ECFE classes in our area.
Last summer, one of the couples was generous enough to have all of us up to their cabin a weekend. There were ten adults, five toddlers and four infants. It was a lot of fun.
We haven't had a great opportunity to get all the couples together and really get to know one another, without the kids. I love my kids to death. It's just nice to have an adult thing once in a while.
Both Andy and I felt like we got to know everyone better and can't wait for another get together!
At the last minute when I was having a difficult time thinking of appetizers, we changed it to tacos. Easy.
When the guys decided to join us, we all sat down to eat and have some adult beverages. Besides a wedding in June, my first since Aiden. I generally have not missed it one bit, but without the worry of my kids, it was fun to enjoy a few margaritas. And, everyone else was so nice to bring a few appetizers/desserts to share.
We played only a few games, but they were so much fun. The thing I will remember the most about this night is laughter. It is so fun to learn about people and see them in a different way other than "mommy" or "daddy" mode.
Although the night was so much fun; it was even more fun to pick up the boys from Grandpa and Grandma's Sunday morning. All day Saturday, Alex kept asking, "Is it time to go to Grandma and Grandpa's yet?" He was so excited to play games, eat, watch movies, stay up late reading books and sleep on the air mattress. It was Aiden's first night away from home and I was so nervous. I don't know if nervous is the right worried, just anxious about being away from him. He did amazingly well and to be honest, I think if I had let them, they would have stayed there longer.
