Lakefront Music Festival

Andy and I were going on a date.  The annual Lakefront Music Festival was happening in Prior Lake and we were headed out with friends.  Uncle Luke offered to babysit and we jumped at the opportunity.  The boys were so excited.  Luke got there and Alex immediately said, "Bye mom, bye dad".  And Aiden, who cries when I leave him most of the time waved and said, "Bye-Bye".  Okay.

My brother claims that he is never going to do diapers and the diaper that I had set out for him last night to change Aiden into if needed, was still sitting in the same place today.  But, Aiden's diaper was no more wet than usual.  I am assuming everything went just fine.

Before going to the festival, we headed up to Captain Jacks for some drinks and food.  We sat outside on the deck by the lake.  The ducks were literally walking right under me.  At one point, they may have spoken to me even?

First date night this summer.  We definitely have to try harder to schedule these.  We had such a good time.

We were so excited to go out with Aaron and Callie for the night.  We love spending time with them and their kids.  For a while, Alex was so bummed that he couldn't go because he thought Carter was going to be there too.  He was okay when he found out it was just the adults.

The first night of the concert was Travis Tritt.  Andy and I used to love to listen to his music in the early college years.  It was nostalgic in a way to see him live.  It brought back a lot of memories for us.  I, for one, had a wonderful time just getting out of the house without kids.  I love them to death, but we all need a break once and a while.  It's fun to interact with other adults and not have to be the overly responsible one.

It got to be a late night.  It was a cheap (or cheaper) date.  The tickets for the concert were only 20 dollars for the two of us and they were good for both Friday and Saturday night.  Drinks made it a little more expensive...  We had a great time with old and new friends....

When we got the tickets, I don't think anyone was planning to go back for night number two.  The original intention was Travis Tritt.  But, we had already paid and it was something fun to do.  On Saturday, at almost the last minute, we all decided to go again!
Again, we headed out to Captain Jack's for some appetizers and beverages.

GB Leighton was the first performer we saw at about 6 pm.  The kids loved dancing up a storm and moving all around.

We got ice cream treats to cool down from the hot sun and they were all about sharing...

All the people with fancy phones played some games to keep the kiddos entertained.

Aiden in Eva's shades... He melts my heart.

More people started coming and everyone started to wind down a bit.

Can you tell they love each other?

The smiliest little girl I know...

The boys needed some entertainment...

In between bands, we headed up to get some treats.  Instead of ice cream, this time we got some fresh squeezed lemonade and chocolate chip cookies.

CCR came on and we stayed for a few sets, but the kiddos were getting quite tired and we packed up for home about five songs in.  It was such a fun weekend of entertainment and family time.  I would do it again in a heart beat.
