Up North

Last Saturday we headed up North for the annual Fourth of July celebration.  We were a few people short this year and what we thought was over a flu bug at our house.  Alex, Aiden and I all were sick the week prior to going up North.  I mean the nasty, winter-type, flu bug.  I thought we maybe ate something bad, but when Andy got sick the day he was supposed to take the CPA test (almost a week later) and everybody up north got sick the next week, I quickly realized it truly was the flu bug.  Yeah…how bad do I feel? Pretty bad.

So, anyway...my mom, Aiden, Alex and myself hopped in the mini van for a fun day up north.  Andy stayed back to study for his big CPA test (the one he ended up sick for anyway), Pete is in Florida, and Luke and my Dad had to work. We stopped about 45 minutes along on trip to visit Uncle Luke and Grandpa at work.  They were working on painting the new Pizza Ranch in Shakopee.  (It looks amazing!

We stopped for lunch and continued on...

The boys wasted no time getting to work play as soon as we reached our 2.5 hour destination away from home.  I never had to worry about them being not being entertained, because they are...spoiled!  The Andersen's had bought them bubbles to play with, chalk, legos, colors and so much more...

We walked down to the garden where Cassie was busy pushing Alex on my Grandma's seat for the garden.  Alex loved it!  He even got to pick some asparagus!

It was incredibly hot outside and incredibly nice inside.  I quick got a picture of Aiden sitting and teasing Great Grandpa, but don't be fooled...he didn't sit long, even if the Twins were on TV.

Everyone loved the Kale that Cassie made. Um...

The boys loved playing with some mechanical toys that Great Uncle Jeff had.

Our 2012 Fourth of July crew!  Thank goodness Uncle Jeff reminded me to take a picture, I might have forgotten otherwise :)

Nice picture, Aiden?
Yep, they gave him beans.

After dinner, we headed out to the mosquito-free man cave to sit and talk and watch the kids play.

Good book, Gramps?
Alex (and even Aiden later) warmed up to petting Benji and eventually Ellie.

Aiden started to get snuggly.  It was bed time.  Little man did so well all day!

And then our anticipation was over and the fireworks began!  They were amazing (as always) and so much fun to watch.  Alex sat in between Grandma Johnson and Great Aunty Reney.  He did pretty well, but the noise was a little too loud for him.  He covered his ears at the end and said he loved the fireworks. Great Grandpa, Cassie and Aiden watched the fireworks from the man cave.  Well, Aiden slept through them.

Thanks for having us, Andersens!  It was a great, relaxing, and eventful day.
I'm sorry you got sick!
