This week has been a busy week for us. We have so much more planned now during the summer. The days are longer, the nights shorts, and why not? This week we were invited to one special little lady's first bee-day. Emily Bea turned one last week and they had a bee party for her. It was by the lake, beautiful and fun. Sam and Eva are the most relaxed and wonderful parents. Emily is one lucky lady.
The kids at the party...
Harper, Cameron, Emily, Aiden and Alex
Alex and Aiden got some of the silly spray string in a can in their gift buckets. Eva and Alex tried it out on Sam and it worked great!
We had our first official picnic with Grandma at Cleary Lake this week.
After lunch we took a quick walk (three miles) around the park and then came back to swim in the lake. My little fishies loved it!
Aiden has always been a good sleeper for us. But, be careful not to say always because recently he is getting four new teeth in the corners of his mouth and sleeping is not too great anymore. Andy took a nap with Aiden one day and he slept like a champ.
We took a trip to one of our favorite places...The Library.
Alex is my little book worm and could read books almost all day. I love listening to him "read" the books and make up his own story. He definitely has an imagination and I love it!
I took the boys to the MN Zoo this week too. It was so much fun! It is the best gift we have gotten as a family. They now have the Dinosaur exhibit and Alex was very excited to try it out. Too bad it was too scary. We went in and if the dinosaurs that spit at you in the beginning of the tour wasn't bad enough, then the dinosaur eating another dinosaur with blood all over it did us in! It was interesting, but maybe we'll wait for a few more years for this again.
Ever since the goats jumped on Alex for food last summer, he has been scared of them. So, I was very proud of him for going in to see the goats, pet and brush them this year. And...he loved it!
Aiden clung to my leg most of the time. He ventured off one time and was feeling pretty proud of himself, until a goat came right up into his face. We were done at that point.
Oh! We did find the tractors...of course!
Alex and Aiden loved talking and "baaking" at the chickens. Alex thought if he blew on them they would give him attention.
We stopped by the splash pad and played for a bit. Alex didn't want anything to do with it because he didn't have his trunks. In that way, he is totally me. Aiden had a bawl! As a special treat, mommy got them vitamin water in bottles from the zoo. We never do this, but it was a funny treat today.
We had a special play date planned this week with an old friend. We headed up to the my friend, Heather's, house and then to a nearby splash pad. She and I were good friends in High School and it has been years since we have had the opportunity to catch up. It was so fun seeing her and meeting her kids. Alex and her daughter, Hadley, ran off and played together almost right away. Her youngest, Hudson, and Aiden enjoyed playing around each other. I'm so excited to rekindle (I don't know if that's the right word, but I'll go with it) this friendship and the possibilities that are there.
Going to check on these two and I see Alex lying down on Hadley's bed. I asked them what they were doing and they said they were playing doctor. The conversation I heard:
Alex: "Hadley, I don't feel good, I'm going to throw up!"
Hadley: "You better put this bow over your mouth"
So excited to get together and see you guys again soon!
Yes, a long post for a fun week!
You have been busy! What a great mama to provide so many fun opportunities for your kids!
