Growing our own pumpkins this year, we had some lofty goals for ourselves. Okay, I did. We had tons and tons of pumpkins and lots and lots of carving to do. We did about half of it...which was more than enough!
We didn't carve pumpkins as a family until Monday night before Halloween. Probably not a smart ideas. Mondays are tough to begin with, then add in a couple of cranky kids and it's not a good mix. Alex insisted on taking his shirt off so he didn't get dirty. Yes, he can sometimes be like me. Aiden dug right in.
In their trick-or-treat baskets from the Goodwin's, the boys got some fun faces that stick right on the pumpkins. Perfect! Alex enjoyed doing his independently while Aiden needed a little bit of help. Nevertheless, we didn't have to carve these. :)
The one thing both Andy and I wanted to do this year was grow pumpkins big enough that both the boys could fit inside them. We didn't get the pumpkins as big as we had hoped because there was not a lot of rainfall this summer. But, we got pretty decent size pumpkins. Now, if it had been probably any other night...they would have had a ball. But, we waited until Monday night before Halloween and right before bed. Poor planning. Even the M&Ms didn't work for Aiden...
This is Alex's forced smile. (The M&Ms were dangling above the camera)...what a mean mom!
It was our first official year of trying pumpkins...there is always next year. Grandma Guse and Alex have already been talking up their pumpkin stand for next fall!
Oh, there may be sad faces in that one, but that's part of memory-making too! They'll laugh at it when they're older, for sure!
