Moo, Baa and La La La

In May, we headed down to Waseca to meet up with Andy's parents for breakfast. We were celebrating Andy's Mom's birthday.  My grandpa made a beautiful stained glass frame that we were very excited to give to Grandma Guse.  After breakfast Grandma had arranged for us to visit their friends' family farm.  The boys were beyond excited and a little nervous at first when we pulled up and saw a "big doggy". They quickly got over their anxieties and loved petting the pregnant kitty and feeding hay to the ponies.

We were also able to go and visit the sheep and lambs in the barn.  Recently one of the mama sheep had given birth to twins and was only taking care of and feeding one of them.  So, the owners of the farm were having to feed the other lamb by bottle.  The boys got to take turns feeding the lamb by bottle and I think they were a bit surprised.  The lamb was very thirsty and pounding down the bottle.  It was quite cute to watch their little faces.

The day before we got there a baby calf was born.  It came out of it's mama backwards and had to be hung upside to get all the snot and other stuff out.  It was fun to watch the baby calf hobble around.  The mama was pretty protective of her baby too.  There were a lot of cows to watch and I think the boys thought the bulls may have been a bit intimidating.

After visiting the cows we headed over to see their very cute fish pond.  It was beautiful; I only wish I had gotten a picture.
It was fun to see the pigs.  They do not have their own space. They were crowded into their "pig pens" and making lots of noise and smell!  We didn't stay in long because they said we would start to smell like that too if we were in there too long.

The boys enjoyed jumping up and sitting on the four wheeler and some of the machinery they had on the farm including the four wheeler and tractors.  Aiden was in heaven with all the tractors!

After visiting the farm we headed over to Andy's Grandpa and Grandma Guse's farm.  Andy's parents farm the area and have set aside a plot of land for us to plant "Giant" pumpkins on.  The pumpkins went in today, which may seem late, but is earlier than last year when we planted them on Father's Day weekend.  We had the boys covered head to toe in sweatshirts and pants and Aiden still managed to get poison ivy.  You can't even tell now and I don't think it was too painful for him either.

We had a great day celebrating Grandma and spending time on her friends' farm.  What an experience for my boys!
