It took a long drive, but we finally made it to Milwaukee and on our first night away from home we decided on a good travelocity deal and spent the night at the Marriott West in Pewaukee. It was a beautiful hotel and I definitely felt like we were tourists in a more business like hotel. But, it worked perfectly because both times we went to the hotel pool, we were the only ones. Which lent itself nicely to Alex having the freedom to jump into the pool and eventually Aiden too. We got to the hotel, changed and were there right away. Alex was a fish. He jumped in immediately and was super impressed with his new "muscle" floats as he called them. That boy is fearless. It took Aiden a while to warm up to the water and pool. He waded around in his floatation device and eventually sat and jumped in from the side. By the time we were ready to go, he was kicking and screaming to stay. I guess that's the way it works, right?
After getting in a good swim, we decided to head out for dinner rather than eat with the suits at the hotel. We found a fun pizza place and opted for that for the night.
Both my boys love pineapple on their pizza and since it's vacation and it's pineapple, they get what they want.
Andy and I ordered a taco pizza which was delicious, but huge. We ate a quarter of the pizza.
We headed back to the hotel and there were a few tears from Alex about not being in his own bed, but that quickly subsided after a few jumps on the hotel beds. The rest of the night we watched a little TV, Alex and Aiden played ghosts with the curtains in the room, we read books and were all sleeping by 9 o'clock.
After all, we did have a big day ahead of us tomorrow.
