The part I was the most excited about when going to the Dells was all the water. I can't say I am a typical adult where I would say, "Let's just let the kids play". I love water and summer time. They go hand in hand for me. The Dells was the perfect summer vacation for us!
The hotel we stayed at had so many different water parks and attractions. No matter what age or what your interests were, there was something for you.
These were the outside parks that we tried...
Aiden and Emily enjoyed the swings in the baby section.
I was just talking with some other mom's tonight about that stupid pacifier. In the beginning, I loved it and now I hate it. I love this picture of Aiden and if the stupid pacifier were not there you would be able to see his beautiful smile! Anyway, you can see him!
Saturday was our last "full" day in the Dells and it turned out to be the nicest weather wise too! We went to a lot of the kid parts of the water parks, but spent most of our time on/near the lazy river. We got there early and found beach chairs that were mostly in the water, by the entrance to the Lazy River. The perfect spot to camp for the day. And we did just that.
Andy and I switched off with the boys all day. But, Aiden was my Lazy River guy. We went down the lazy river 5 or 6 times in the morning. Aiden slept the entire time. That afternoon, Aiden and I went by ourselves down the Lazy River again. He slept the entire time. I don't know how many times or for how long we went on the Lazy River. Andy claims, "you had to have been on there for 3 hours"!! I don't know, all I know is that you never wake sleeping babies.
The boys loved going down the slides in the baby/toddler pools. It made me extremely nervous with Aiden, but he was a brave guy and I just tried to let him be brave (with supervision of course!).
Alex just went and went and went. That boy has never ending energy. He is so sweet though because every so often he would check in and make sure Aiden was having fun or see if Aiden wanted to ride in his lap. The best big brother ever.
I love their similar expressions.
Aiden and Emily had fun playing together with Emily's rubber ducks.
They both fell asleep on the lazy river and when we got back, Sam made a canopy on the beach chairs for the babies to sleep under. I couldn't get a picture before Aiden woke up, but aren't they sweet?
Of course there are things on every trip that you could say you would do differently. For example, let's just eat out. The food was a bit much for me in terms of worrying about everyone and what not. But the positives definitely outweigh the negatives in the end. I look at the trip as a whole and know what a great family I have, how blessed we are to have such wonderful friends, and how lucky we are to be able to do something like this with both our family and friends.
We are creating memories that they will remember for years to come. Although it may be through pictures... memories were made.
That wraps up our Summer Vaca of 2012.
