Guse Summer Weekend

It has been the perfect summer of fun, family and friends.  This was a weekend for all of those.  We headed up to Andy's brother's cabin, which was about 5 miles from our friend's cabin that we were visiting two weekends prior to this weekend.  At least we knew the drive...

For once in our lives we were early! We are never early.  The boys and I picked Andy up from work a little early and we got through traffic and road construction to make it up there about 7 o'clock.  After getting the tour, we headed out on the lake for some tubing!  Both of my brave little boys tried it out.  Alex even took both hands off the tube.  It was very scary for me.

We also did some late night swimming and fishing before calling it a day with a campfire and bed.  The boys caught this fish and were so excited! Alex put down his pole and let the fish flop in the grass for some petting before an adult rescued the fish and threw it back into the lake.

The next day was perfect weather. Just overcast and a few sprinkles here and there, but nothing too devastating.  Aiden enjoyed playing on the beach with the new toys, looking for fish in the water, some coloring and ball games.

Alex spent a lot of time out on the boat with the others fishing.  On his last trip out, he lost his fish to a 91 inch bass.  Yes, this is what he told his Grandma.  As Alex was walking off the dock, he looked like something was wrong.  As soon as I saw him he started to cry that he lost his pole.  Oh how the heart breaks at 4 years old.  Alex was also very excited to go swimming "on his own" with his life jacket in the lake.  I was very proud of my brave, little fishie!

Everyone had a great time being on the water all day, playing some volleyball, badminton and tether-ball on Saturday.

Almost everyone tried their hand at kayaking.  It was a blast!!

We loved watching these little ducklings run across the water and float around.  Their mommy or daddy didn't seem to be around, just some lost little ducklings...

There were a lot of loons too.

On Saturday evening, we cooked some hot dogs over the fire and took the opportunity to celebrate Aaron's 9th birthday.

Grandpa and Grandma Guse with their Grandkids.

Wishing Nate and Abby were with us, but we got in a picture of the family!

Thank you, Matt and Kristen, for having us up for a fun Guse weekend filled with a lot of new memories!  We had a great time.
