We always celebrated Christmas as a family on Christmas Eve morning, packing it in with the other Christmas' we were attending. Some people like to slow down and take it all in. Of course, I like to enjoy the time with family, but I love to see everyone also. This year we celebrated Christmas with my parents and brothers on Christmas Eve.
Uncle Luke and Pete scared me when they said they got Alex and Aiden a pet. I am all about going to the zoo to visit the animals, reading about them in books, watching them on television, seeing them out and about, or even visiting them at friends and families homes. I am not all about getting a pet for our family at this point. It is too much work and too tight of quarters for this family.
So, luckily..they got the boys two fish. Beta fish. The fish you aren't supposed to be able to kill. Which was tested later that night when Lucky got his name when he was dropped onto the kitchen floor along with everything that was in the tank. He is still living, along with Santa. Alex did the naming, he refuses to call the one Lucky though, his real name is Rudolph.
My family enjoys exchanging home made gifts. Last year, Andy made my parents a beautiful bird house to put on their deck.
This year, he made them a planter that looks like a well. They can put it in their garden, or on their deck.
Santa came to Grandpa and Grandma's house while we were there. Alex couldn't believe that he would come if we weren't sleeping. He was in awe.
Grandpa Johnson built and Grandma Johnson painted a stool for Alex (and eventually Aiden) to stand on when going potty. After all, that is a very tricky task for these short boys to learn to go potty like Big Boys.
The rest of the family indulged my over-the-top photography addiction as we took some family pictures.
As you can tell, the boys didn't indulge too long. They were a little wound up with the presents and food.
As always, we played some games. This year they just happened to be a little more "kid friendly".
Grandpa snuck off with Alex to check the stockings. I don't know who was more excited?
We had a delicious ham dinner with twice baked potatoes, salad, and much more...
Then, finally, it was PRESENT time!
One of our gifts to my parents was that we transferred all their old home movies from VHS to DVD. So, we sat down and were able to watch some of them and read some books. Then, it was time to get the kids home for bed.
Another memory made!
