Our Third "Date" of the Season

Not too long ago I was at a baby shower and when introducing myself had a difficult time finding the right terms to use to describe my relationship to the Mother-to-Be.  I finally just summarized it down to 'cousin'.  But, when describing my first cousin, Cassie, I think I could summarize it down to 'sister'.  She's always been like a sister to me and recently Alex even asked why we don't call her Auntie Cassie.  My answer was, "call her Auntie Cassie!".

Auntie Cassie and Alex enjoyed racing in the water, kicking and teasing each other.  It's so fun just to watch!

Talking last spring we etched out three days this summer to get together and decide the details later.  We did the Children's Museum and the Zoo on our first two "dates" and the third was a beach day.  My mom joined us and my Grandpa had cards with his friends so my Grandma joined us too!  It was a special day.

We went to a beach in Lakeville on a Tuesday that wasn't particularly hot.  It was just right, but the water may have been just a little cold.  Nevertheless, we had a great time playing in and out of the water.  Cassie even brought a few sand toys too!

This summer is just full of teachable moments for me and my heart.  During one instance on this day, I turned my back to talk to Alex for a second and turned back and Aiden was struggling to keep above the water.  That was hard to shake off that day.  I held him for quite a while after that.  Thank God he is okay!

After playing in the water, we had a fun picnic lunch.  There was a safety camp going on and a helicopter landed right behind us.  The boys really enjoyed watching the helicopter start up and go and then do a couple of circles in the air.  My mom made tuna sandwiches, we had fruit, fresh made cookies from Great Grandma and a salad.  It was just perfect to tire the boys out so they would sleep while I went home and got in lots of packing for our road trip that we were leaving on the next day.

Thanks for a fun summer, Cassie, Grandma, Great Aunty Reney and Great Grandma.  We had so much fun on our "dates" with all of you!
