Road Trip: Day 6

I dare you to say that Washington State isn't gorgeous.  We woke up Sunday refreshed and ready for the day.  In the morning we went crabbing and clamming with both Nate and Abby on their boat.  Abby and I took the kids and met Andy and Nate at the boat.  It was a beautiful morning.

The original plan was to just go crabbing.  We took turns going out on the boat and I was so proud of my big 4 year old when he wasn't afraid to pick up a crab and throw it in the water.  Those pinchers were going and looked like they could hurt!  I was even a little nervous.  It was fun to watch Nate and Abby in action, pulling up the pots and measuring each one to find the perfect keeper.  I think we ended up keeping five or six on this day, but in each net there seemed to be about 10.  Each one fighting to get out.  It was so fun to watch!

Back on the shore, an unexpected surprise, clams were shooting up in the sand all around.  It was so quiet and then you would hear water spurt up behind or in front of you, run and dig until you found a clam.  I was a bit timid as Andy told me the worms would bite, liar!  But, I did dig up at least 1 or 2. Andy and Aiden found a whole bunch of clams while we were out crabbing.  They were very excited.  We were going to have a great meal for dinner!

After a nap and lunch Andy and Nate took the boys fishing again.  They caught a few fish to bring back and I think they had a better time on this trip than Friday night's trip.

Abby and I took the afternoon off for a much needed trip to the winery!  We didn't make it in time for the tour, but ended up going back Monday to get in on one.  We went to Chateau St. Michelle, which happens to be our favorite types of wine!  We each got a flight of wine that we shared for a tasting and we bought a glass with wine it to walk around the grounds. Our tour guide was even from Prior Lake!!

After the winery, we went back to Nate and Abby's for dinner.  Nate and Andy had cooked up the crab, clam, mashed potatoes and corn on the cob for dinner.  It was fun to try everything, although I don't think sea food is going to be my thing.  The boys all loved it!

It was a fun day!
